For high schoolers, Cross Keys High School located in Brookhaven and Dunwoody High School located in Dunwoody are two of the possibilities.
Holding true to its official motto of, “Diversity, Vitality, Community,” Doraville offers its residents and visitors plenty of wonderful facilities managed by the Doraville Parks and Recreation Department. Local parks include Autumn Park, Bernard Halpern Park, Brook Park, Chicopee Park, English Oak Park, Flowers Park and Honeysuckle Park. Each park provides different amenities for everyone to enjoy. Picnic areas, pavilions, playgrounds, tennis courts, open play areas, a pool and mini soccer patches are a number of the parks' features.
Founded in 1871, Doraville emphasizes the “Community” aspect of their motto by holding annual community events for all residents in the city. Mayor’s Easter Egg Hunt, Free Concerts in Flowers Park, Movies Under the Stars, Mayor’s Annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Free Family Christmas Movies are just some of the fun activities held by the city. On top of these, Doraville encourages its community to join their fitness and wellness classes available for all ages. Some of the classes include; Tai Chi and Qi Gong, Incite Dance, Healthy Hearts: Low Impact Aerobics, Water Aerobics and a variety of youth sports programs.
In September of 2014, the former site of a General Motors plant was purchased for the plan of developing an Atlantic Station style of neighborhood in Doraville. Also notable are the city’s mid-century modern houses, and since its explosion of growth in the 1940s, Doraville has focused on maintaining the homes’ original architecture.
