Located in Gwinnett County, Duluth is an Atlanta suburb that's home to about 29,193 residents. Duluth’s motto, “Pride in Old and New” holds true as it is a progressive city while still promising to keep the old-town feel. Originally named “Howell’s Crossing after cotton merchant Evan Howell, the city didn’t get its current name until 1871. Today, Duluth is a thriving city with plenty of activities for all walks of life and only 35 miles northeast from the heart of downtown Atlanta.
Duluth is served by the Gwinnett County Public Schools which includes ten elementary schools and four middle schools including Duluth Middle School, Coleman Middle School, Richard Hull Middle School and Louise Radloff Middle School. The two public high schools available for families are Duluth High School and Peachtree Ridge High School. Also located in the area are three private schools: Duluth Junior Academy, Duluth Montessori School and Notre Dame Academy.
Downtown Duluth offers an area for residents and visitors to relax, shop, dine and find plenty of entertainment. Town Green, a wonderful outdoor amphitheater that holds free festivals, movies and concerts, is also located in downtown Duluth. Other community events and activities include Art Week, Cookies & Cocoa with Santa, Duluth Arts Festival, Deck the Hall, Duluth Celebrates America July 3rd, Duluth Cornhole League, Duluth High School 5K, Food Truck Fridays, Howl on the Green, the Muddbuggs & Music Crawfish Festival and many many more! Each of Duluth's eight parks offer facilities open to the entire community. Rogers Bridge Park, Church Street Park and the Chattahoochee Dog Park are some of the parks available for residents just to name a few. Collectively between the eight parks are basketball courts, soccer fields, tennis facilities, pavilions, playgrounds, walking trails, open spaces and community centers. Centered around maintaining a strong community, the city provides programs for every age. FAB (Fifty and Beyond), is a senior program created by Duluth Parks & Recreation to promote active lives and community involvement through assorted games and events.
